Lilieth Conolly is from Mullins River, Belize and currently resides in Santa Monica, California. Lilieth is HIV positive and has been living with HIV for more than 30 years. When Lilieth was diagnosed with HIV, she was ashamed to disclose her status, and wanted to commit suicide. Lilieth had to force 15 pills down her throat daily, hoping that the symptoms would all disappear. A few years after Lilieth’s HIV diagnosis, she was vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, and could barely walk. Lilieth was weighing almost 100 pounds and her T-Cell count was under 100. Lilieth was in and out of the intensive care unit and her HIV diagnosis later advanced to FULL BLOWN AIDS (terminology no longer used today). Lilieth also developed stage 4 pre-cancerous polyps in her rectum. Lilieth worked at The Los angeles LGBT Center, as an HIV Pre-posttest counselor. Lilieth worked as the coordinator of Treatment Advocacy programs, assisting in the planning, and implementation of programs targeting health related issues, and HIV treatment. In the mid 1990’s, Lilieth did a public announcement commercial with Queen Latifah, called Women Need To Know and participated in several HIV/AIDS informative interviews. Today, Lilieth is healthier than ever and has found unconditional love that surpasses all understanding. Lilieth is cancer free, has a T-Cell count of 1143 and has been undetectable for more than a decade. Undetectable means untransmittal, which means that a person who is HIV positive and have unprotected sex with a person who is HIV negative cannot pass the HIV virus to their partner.
In 2016, Lilieth and I met at church in Homestead, Fl, and became friends. A few months later, our relationship quickly blossomed into something romantic and we have been inseparable ever since.
